Obscura Filmmagasin

A minimal, editorial magazine that explores film as visual art through directors with strong cinematic style.

Obscura is a self-initiated print magazine that explores film as visual art, with a focus on direction and cinematography. The concept centers on directors who use composition, lighting, and rhythm to craft meaning—featuring names like Wong Kar-Wai, Wes Anderson, Federico Fellini, and Andrei Tarkovsky.

The magazine combines long-form essays, interviews, and visual analyses, presented in a layout that mirrors the tone and pacing of the films themselves. Designed in Adobe InDesign, the format is clean and gallery-inspired, prioritizing atmosphere and clarity. Printed on uncoated Munken paper and prepared for perfect binding, the final publication balances editorial depth with strong visual storytelling. The result is a thoughtful and visually immersive magazine that treats film not just as entertainment, but as art.
